Fresh to the market is 'Banyandah', a classy slick Scimitar 1010, designed by Australian Peter Brady.

Built in 2001, the Scimitar is a low drag, semi-displacement, fuel-efficient cruising cat.

The combination of light weight and low-drag hulls means economical horsepower. Sporting Yanmar 125 hp turbo diesel engines. The boats draws just 0.77m and its shafts and props are protected by her keels. You can beach the Scimitar for half-yearly hand-scrubbed hull washes. Simple.

The hull is fast but frugal, with a nice raised sheerline and high bows for crossing ocean waves and completing passages.

Stylish interior with huge saloon area and an abundance of light and fresh air. Two double cabins forward with two single bunks midships. The Scimitar's deck layout and internals are very impressive, with miles of floor space for both outdoor living and wet-weather weekends aboard.

Huge full-length boarding platform, with room for the tender on a bracket, and a step-through transom door.

A ladder leads up to the bridge, which is big enough for 10 people to party, with a huge corked deck ready for the al fresco dining setting. The U-shaped lounge forward on the bridge can seat seven people, while the twin helmseats front a moulded console with Yanmar engine panels and a flip-up dash holding electronics.

Banyandah has the optional moulded hardtop. It was a nice bit of work that had an overhead radio box, waterproof stereo speakers, solars above and clears attached for all-weather protection.

The outdoor head, a separate moulded unit with a door off the cockpit, is another handy feature for day boating and entertaining.
