Swift Trawler 30 ticks all the boxes
A Little Slice of Heaven
After years of sailing, Michael and Penny wanted a taste of the sweet life … in the form of a powerboat.
They were on the hunt for something they could easily moor up the coast … a little slice of heaven to escape the rat race.
And Michael had an extensive wish list …
“The boat needed to be a good solid boat. Something we could overnight on with a nice bedroom, great toilet and shower facilities. Easy to manage so we can take it out on a whim with a prop shaft rather than stern-legs. And most importantly a flybridge … nothing beats driving a boat from upstairs. It’s like driving a convertible. You feel like Popeye.”
Michael knew all about Beneteau’s great reputation. He arranged a test drive of the Swift Trawler 30 and immediately knew it was the one. It ticked every box on his wish list!
An Epic Adventure to Paradise!
Buying the boat was the easy part. Getting it home was another story!
There was a massive cyclone in Queensland which resulted in a huge swell moving south. Michael needed to learn the ins and outs of a powerboat, fast.
The Flagstaff team got him up to speed on the technical equipment, setting up the electronics, and went out a few sea trials. It didn’t take long before Michael was ready to go it alone.
There was a narrow gap to get up to their safe-haven up the coast. At the crack of dawn, with nerves of steel, Michael and his best mate embarked on their adventure.
A huge storm was predicted for the afternoon, so they needed to get up the coast fast.
A massive squall hit off Newcastle with huge seas.
There were heaps of tankers with huge waves crashing over the boat. They couldn’t see a thing.
For Michael, it was nerve-racking …
“It wasn’t ideal conditions but it was quite the adventure. When that front came through off Newcastle it was next level. It was full-on but at the same time, we felt safe. The Swift Trawler 30 was rock solid. I was really impressed. We felt as safe as we could in those conditions.”
After a tense eight hours at sea, they came through the heads of the port.
The winds dropped right back, the sun peaked through the clouds and a pod of dolphins escorted them right to the marina.
It was magic. They had reached paradise.
Lazy Days on the Water
Armed with the newspaper, a good book and a picnic, Michael and Penny head out most weekends to explore the majestic river systems.
They walk straight onto the boat from the car, Penny releases the lines and off they go. Simple as that.
In Michael’s words,
“The boat is pure luxury. Everything we need is on board. I can literally feel the stress melt away when we step onboard. We love having a whole day on the boat with no agenda.
We usually start the day looking for dolphins. We never tire of seeing them; they are terrific companies. From there we do some lazy cruising looking for a nice quiet bay to put the anchor down. With the sun on our backs, we chill out for the day. It’s heaven.
It’s such an easy day out. And at the end of the day, Penny jumps off and ties off the rope, we close the doors, jump in the car and head back to the beach house.”
Sounds idyllic, doesn’t it? Paradise is closer than you think!
