The flagship of the Excess range now offers even more thanks to the collaboration between Excess and Torqeedo’s Deep Blue Hybrid system. The Hybrid Excess 15’s unique blend of sleek lines, elegant interiors and sustainable performance delivers superior ocean sailing… and the ultimate catamaran experience.
The EXCESS 15 prototype, called “E’Lab”, already sailed over 3,000 nautical miles during 3 months to test the technical solutions, try different configurations of propellers and run its hydro-generation tests. Some of the findings are eloquent both in terms of performance delivered by the Torqeedo electric engines and also of hydro-generation, i.e. the ability for the boat to generate power when sailing.

At 48½ feet long and 26ft wide, the Excess 15 is an elite catamaran that is spacious, luxurious and a joy to sail. Ideal for long-distance travel, owners have a choice of up to six cabins, and the contemporary, light-filled interiors are perfect for entertaining or relaxation.
Now with Deep Blue Hybrid, owners can also expect a stunning ocean experience – with enhanced sailing performance… and without the noise and fumes of a running generator.
WIth the Hybrid Excess 15 you can get even closer to nature. The double aft helm delivers excellent visibility and gives you a close connection to the water. The sports aesthetic is unique, balanced and unlike any other multihull offering. The high aspect rig ratio ensures superior performance under sail, plus the optional pulse line model offers a taller mast and 10% more sail area.
A hybrid sailing experience
The Hybrid Excess 15 combines wind and electric drives for one-of-a-kind hybrid sailing. It provides owners with an ultra efficient way to carry the sails longer, and offers incredible, enhanced sea cruising.
The bluewater sailing configuration consists of:
- Twin Deep Blue 50 kW electric saildrives in cooperation with ZF
- Two Deep Blue high-capacity lithium-ion BMW i3 batteries
- Full energy management system for harvesting green energy and charging the boat’s batteries while underway.
There’s a cruising speed of seven to eight knots, and enhanced maneuverability even in tight spaces.

Award winning design
The design of the Hybrid Excess 15 has already been recognised for its innovation by the International Boat Industry (IBI).
In the 2021 Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement, Excess Catamarans, Torqueedo and ZF were the winners in the ‘Collaborative Solution between Boat or Superyacht Builder and its Supply Chain Partner’ category.

The catamaran features an expansive retractable sunroof that runs the length of the cockpit and can be trimmed to suit your preference. The expansive cockpit includes an outdoor kitchen and lounge seating for up to ten. And the ample saloon is equipped with a generous L-shaped lounge, dining space and full size kitchen.
Forward, an oversized daybed overlooks twin trampolines, providing the perfect spot for sun-soaked days at sea.
