You’ll enjoy an uncompromised sailing performance in the AMEL 50, with tall masthead sloop rig, hydranet furling sails, twin rudders, and performance keel. Abandoning ketch rigging for the AMEL 50, designers returned to a single mast yacht with sloop rigging.

You’ll appreciate the tools that facilitate navigation, including electric sail furlers and winches and the self-tacking staysail. The center cockpit with hardtop and opening roof are the nucleus of the yacht with sail controls and helm all enclosed from the elements for comfortable sailing.

The cockpit is also the center of outdoor living with a large dining table and seating for entertaining family and friends. Catch some rays on the large sunbed on the aft deck.

Interior

Interior

The luminous AMEL 50 can accommodate six people, thanks to the two large cabins each with a double bed and one cabin with bunk beds. There is an abundance of storage room – under the beds and the benches, in the wardrobes and lockers.

The fully equipped galley, positioned in the starboard passageway, is perfect for preparing those culinary delights. A generous, oversized living area in the saloon maintains optimal ergonomics and the chart table is located to the left of the entryway and communicates directly with the entire saloon.

Fine timber interior choices include light oak, or silk matt American walnut.

The heartbeat of the AMEL 50, the Volvo D3-110, is housed in the unique center engine room which is watertight, fully insulated from the interior and provides easy access for service. The central engine room is akin to a superyacht and houses all the boat’s machinery, providing a quiet, tranquil environment for all passengers.

“The development of embedded techniques such as motorized furlers means that maneuvering a 50-foot sloop is much easier today … and ketch rigging is no longer necessary on a boat of this size.”

“French builder AMEL has, for 50 years, been selling a dream and the AMEL 50 is no exception; with this boat, you could head off anywhere. Imagine cruising through the Chilean channels with a panoramic view from your warm and cozy doghouse, shortening sail at the touch of a button. AMEL’s philosophy is everything on board should be designed in such a way to make the owner’s life easier and the on-board experience more pleasurable – making long-distance cruising achievable for anyone who can afford one.”

“With this 50-foot model, the La Rochelle shipyard opens the AMEL concept to a new category of clients, with a wide choice of navigation programs. With more accessible dimensions and price, the AMEL 50 is also a high-performance, extremely comfortable yacht, suffused as always with AMEL’s know-how.”

“Over the years, the AMEL series of boats have achieved cult-like status as offshore cruising boats. I respect the attention to detail and unique approaches to various areas of design but I have never been much of a fan.

The new AMEL 50 changes that. While there is no mention of a designer in the material I have, it’s clear that this AMEL was designed by someone with a good eye for aesthetics and a good understanding of what the cruising market is after today.”
